Well there is a song named "Airplanes" too.im not going in to it coz, I don’t want to test your patience .Well right in to the topic. I've always wanted to write something serious. Actually, every time I start writing ,I got that "take the world by storm, with these words I form" expression on my face. Then with just two words written ,all that expression deflates and by the time I finish writing , my face would be all red like a newly wed bride. Shy!, covering my face with my hands, not having the balls to read what I wrote down, thinking to myself ,'why do I write so silly'? .Well ,right now I got that inflated face, so before my face turn red, let me write something down !!!
This time its about my little journey abroad, 'the middle east' they say.It was during one of those study vacation. I was enjoying the V.I.P treatment at my grandma's place. You know, tasty food ,complete dominance over tv remote, no ' harsh questioning looks seeking explanation for coming late or where I've been. Nothing!!! Just complete freedom. It was like I was on some gorgeous beach laying down, sipping some exotic fruit juice enjoying a vacation. That's what grandma's place literally is for me !!. One morning, well it must've been like 12. My mom calls it afternoon !, so I will follow her angle..see I respect my elders!!! So, one afternoon, my mom calls up and gets all senti !.She was like "son, you don’t call us, you don’t attend our phone , and even if you do, you don’t talk much and so on.!" I was all confused and was trying to analyze the whole sentence ! All of a sudden she pauses for a second. That’s when the danger bell rang in my head. Bcoz when she gives a pause ,it normally means "bad news".So after the pause she gives a wicked smile and says "pack up sweetheart! We have send you the papers, you are flying tomorrow!make sure you pack all your books too! Welcome home!!" .All of a sudden the whole scene changes.Instead of me sipping juice, now it was like me sitting at concentration camp scratching my head :p (yeah im exaggerating .actually my parents are sweet !!). I did try convincing my mom that I don’t want to come. But my mom just had readymade solutions for all the excuse I made. well I will try picturise the conversation between mom and me using a greenday song..
Me :"mom!,home is the place where your heart is!!!
Mom:" what a shame,coz everyone's heart doesn’t beat the same !!! ;)
So, the bottom line is "Game, set, match, mom!!!".
The very next day I was flying to the land I ve heard so much about.i didn’t have anytrouble during the check in, if I ignore the keralites trying to sneak in to the queue.!! So I got in to the plane.I was a bit dissapointed, because I ve seen the ad of fly emirates and etihad etc. But this plane was nothing better than your taxi cab!! Then I got in to ma seat, took a deep breath and consolidated myself saying "air india express !!what did you expect ?!!!"So after while ,the flight took off. That’s when I realised the condition of this thing. I really believed that this aircraft must have seen the world war 1 .its that old. Once the flight started gaining speed, the whole craft started making awful noise like the whole thing was about to blow .Over the years ,I ve heard many people saying that theres a lot of childhood left in me.well at that moment I realised it coz I wanted to scream "mom! I wanna go home. This thing is gonna blow. I am gonna die"!!!...suddenly the guy sitting next to me patted my shoulders and said "air india !dont worry ,it happens"!! I think that guy saw the childhood left in me too :P! .Soon after they played some movie on the t.v and airhostess served me tea and a pastry and finally after 4 hours of roller coaster ride I reached ma destination. Once I stepped in to their airport I started shivering!!now that’s what I call air conditioning. I really doubt if air india had fans in planes instead of a/c because only thing cold in that plane was the tea they served me.well that’s it I met ma parents and I reached home.
Well, this country is really small,Just three hour drive from one end to another.Few shopping malls and lot of indians.Actually I used to look out of my window and I see a lot of keralites roaming around and once in a while I would see an arab. That’s how abundant indians are around here. The most important change that occurred during my stay there was that I started devoloping sentiments to pakisthani's out there. It’s a sad story. Every morning I would wake up , and since there was nothing much to do, I would peep out of the window most of the time.and everyday there was this common sight. There would be group of people mainly north indians and pakisthani's who would wait on the road side eagerly watching at every vehicle passing by. At first I didn’t know what it was and one day I asked about them to ma parents and they told this sad story. Those people came here on free visa and they hav no permanent job. So what they are doing is hoping for some arab to come offer them a job. May be cleaning their garden or any job at all. They pay em very cheap.so every morning they wait at roadside for someone to come and offer them a job for the day. Some days they get picked, some days they stay there till evening in the scorching sun unpicked. They cant afford to go home frequently,so most of them goes once in 5 years .May be because they have to work that long to afford a ticket and some savings.I felt bad, suddenly all those cricket defeats, and all faded! I was kinda senti.
So about this place.First thing is that this people have lot of money. And they have lot of oil. If we convert them to rupees , 1 litre petrol costs only rs 8!!and water costs thrice that amount!! Sad that we couldnt drink oil. Well they make everything out of oil. Electricity is made by burning oil. Once it so happened that the electricity plant had to be taken down for maitanance and there was electricity restriction during day time and what these people did was during day all of them would drive around in car switching there a/c on till evening till the electricity is restored. !! :O . Now., since the arabs are mostly rich, they drive all those fancy cars, ferrari's and lamborghini's. Well about the weather here. If you are paris hilton , you would turn black if u stay in the sun a couple of days .enough said.! And Theres a national food for the immigrants called kuboos.it costs around equivalent to rs 2 here. Then one thing about this people, they are beautiful!! Have to admit that. if you are out in a mall you end up saying 'masha allah " a lot of times coz god have crafted them gorgeous.Theres also some funny side to it too .some of these gals would dress up in parda. And would leave their head uncovered and you can see their hair coloured in every colour imaginalble! If I were a literature tutor I would quote it as a example for "irony"!! and some of them are so in to l'oreal and garnier 's that , u would need a xray eye with two inch depth to see thier real skin!:P
well I just had a short stay there.theres a lot of things I skipped because right now my face is turned red already. So See ya. PEACE!!!!!
